College Ministry


College Scholarship

The MEBC College Scholarship is awarded to a student who is called into the ministry and is pursuing a degree in their ministry field.  The scholarship is in the amount of $500 per semester and is awarded for two semesters, for a total of $1000.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a member of Metro East Baptist Church.
  • Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher from the previous semester.
  • Applicants who are current college students must provide a current transcript (the transcript may be non-official).
  • Applicants must submit a written testimony/essay, including the following information:

1. Header with applicants name, address, phone number, age, and current enrollment status.

2. His or her salvation story.

3. Explanation of his or her sense of calling into ministry.

4. A description of his or her plan to fulfill this calling.

  • Applicants must interview in person or by phone with the student ministry staff at MEBC.
  • Final candidates must be presented and approved by the Church Council.
  • Applicants must provide the name and address of the desired college to which the scholarship money should be mailed to.  

The scholarship will be granted for two consecutive semesters in an academic year.  In order to receive the scholarship for the second semester, a transcript which includes the previous semester of the granted scholarship must be presented. Scholarship money will be suspended if the applicant’s grade point average falls below 2.5.  

Application is due by the first week of July so all applications can be evaluated and the money can be dispersed in a timely manner.  Applications will be accepted between March 11th and the first week of July.  Allowances for these deadlines are at the discretion of the student ministry staff.
