Classes begin September 7

BodyLife is one of the key strategies our church has implemented to help us reach our mission of "connecting with God."   Its purpose is to provide children, youth, and adults opportunities to "go deeper" in their faith development through the study of God's Word.

Preschool (Birth - 2 Years)

There is no greater joy than seeing a child fall in love with God's Word. We will be working our way through The Beginning Bible: Timeless Children Stories. Through the Bible stories in this book, children will learn about God's creativity, power, and great plans for us. Most importantly, kids will discover that God loves them and He sent Jesus, who died for our sins. We will have Bible stories, crafts, songs, activities, games, and snacks. Come join in the fun as we bring the Bible to life and learn how to Pray and Play!!

Children (3 Years - 6th Grade) - AWANA

Sundays 5:00 - 6:45 p.m. The goal of Awana is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. They do this while at the same time making it fun! Our Awana ministry is divided into the following four groups:

  • Cubbies 3 & 4 year olds
  • Sparks K through 2nd grade
  • Truth and Training (Girls) 3rd through 6th grade
  • Truth and Training (Boys) 3rd through 6th grade

Youth (7th - 12th Grade)

We have small groups for students on Sunday evenings.
They meet in homes of church members.   There are three host homes: one for 7th & 8th Graders, 9th & 10th Graders, and 11th & 12th Graders.   After a short introduction, each home breaks up into small groups by grade and gender.
Small groups are a valuable part of a healthy and balanced ministry to students and provide avenues of growth and development that students are unable to get in other large group settings.

Adults

Many of us need to experience renewal and change in our lives, Metro East's Body Life program offers classes that are designed to lead us to just such a change.  Body Life classes explore one particular biblical, theological, or practical topic in detail throughout the fall semester.  Course descriptions are listed below.  Classes meet from 5:15 to 6:45pm on Sunday evenings beginning on September 7.  Between AWANA and Body Life, there is something on Sunday nights for the entire family!  We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to be transformed together from the inside out.  Childcare and children's activities are provided during these times.

ENGAGE: Student/Parent Bible Fellowship

Facilitated by Matt Redmond.  < The Lounge >

We will spend a few foundational weeks looking at questions that worldviews answer before engaging in cultural issues with a biblical worldview.  This will be a great resource for parents to engage the lives and culture of their students in a safe and non-threatening environment.

Family Dynamics

Facilitated by Brooke Seager.  < Bldg 2, Room 105 >
This course is an interactive look at what makes a healthy family.  Students will learn a method for understanding their family of origin and other family relationships.  The course will examine how negative patterns of interaction can be passed down through generations, but will also look at how to make choices for change, break the cycle, and introduce patterns of faith.  This course is especially relevant to recently-formed marriages and families, but anyone is welcome.

Servant Leadership

Facilitated by Doug Holt. < Bldg 2, Room 106 >

This study will guide each participant to discover who they are in Christ and show how He has uniquely gifted each of us to serve Him.  Participants will have weekly homework that will take 30 - 45 minutes and be challenged to memorize one verse each week.  This course is a 10-week study.

(Cost: $8.00 per person / $15 per couple)

Evangelism by Design

Facilitated by Dick Daeschner. < Room M31 >

This is a lifestyle approach that takes natural opportunities to help people move toward God.  For every two sessions we spend preparing to do evangelism, we will spend one session praying for people God puts on our hearts.  Some of the topics discussed include: the uniqueness of Christianity, tools/brief gospel presentations, answering objections, and evaluating spiritual condition.  This course will be offered on Sunday nights and is a 10-week study.

    Truth Project

    < Room M33 >

The goal of this project is to reintroduce believers to the truth claims of God and help them develop a comprehensive biblical worldview.  In 12 lessons we will discuss what a biblical worldview is and how we as Christians should view the issues of truth, philosophy, anthropology, science, history, sociology, law, work, and community.  Although these issues are rarely talked about in our day-to-day lives, they have a profound effect on how we look at the world and the values we pass on to our children.

    Crown Financial Ministries

Facilitated by Greg McCoy. < Room M41 >

Vision:  To see the followers of Christ in every nation faithfully living by God's financial principles in every area of their lives.

Mission:  Equipping people to learn, apply, and teach God's financial principles so they may know Christ more intimately, be free to serve Him, and help fund the Great Commission.

This is a 10 week in-depth study of what Scripture teaches about stewardship.  Some of the subjects covered are: ownership, debt, seeking counsel, contentment, spending, honesty, work, saving, investing, and teaching children how to handle money.

There are six requirements for participation:

  1.  Memorize one assigned Scripture each week
  2. Pray for each member of your group daily
  3. Attend a minimum of 8 of the 10 classes
  4. Complete weekly homework assignments
  5. Complete one practical application each week
  6. Attend a one-hour orientation session: Thursday, September 18 at Central Christian Church

Cost: $25 per couple or individual to help cover the cost of books and materials.

Class size is limited; please sign up early!  Maximum of five couples will be accepted.
