Children
Awana
Awana meets during the school year
on Sundays, from 5:00 - 6:45 pm.
Age 3 - 6th grade
What is Awana???
Awana is a program for children to learn the Word of God by verse memorization. The goal of Awana is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him. Children will gather for an opening before going with their leaders to Council time, Handbook time, and Game time.
- Cubbies: 3 & 4 year olds
The Awana Club for preschoolers is built on two premises:
> Young children can and should receive spiritual training
> Home is the primary place for spiritual training
- Sparks: K - 2nd grade
The Awana Club for children in kindergarten through 2nd
grade builds on the material taugh in our preschool club.
The aim of the curriculum is to take youngsters a step
deeper into God's Word, while giving boys and girls regular
opportunities to hear the Gospel and come to faith in Jesus
Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational
teaching at the preschool level, many boys and girls in
Sparks come to an understanding of their need to trust
Christ as their personal Savior.
- Truth & Training (Girls/Boys): 3rd - 6th grade
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana
to teach 3rd through 6th grade boys and girls the truth of
God's Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily
lives. Our goal is that many of today's young people will
become tomorrow's church leaders. T&T is the program
that trains the leaders of tomorrow - today.
A Note from the Pastor
I am so excited about your child's participation in Awana! Our commitment is to help all of the children involved to love God and His Word and to have a heart of compassion for those who have not yet come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. This may sound like a big goal, but we serve a great God! At Metro East we are serious about helping our children grow in the care and nurture of the Lord in an environment that is loving and safe. Your decision to involve your child in Awana is a wise investment in their spiritual growth. I look forward to what the Lord is going to do in the lives of our children and their families through the ministry of Awana.

A Note to Parents
Dear Parents,
Thank you for entrusting your children with us. Our hope is that your child will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. But we want you to know that we need your support in this journey. You can best support your child by:
- Having them at club and in their room no later that 5pm. Check in starts at 4:50. We are going to make every effort to start and end on time.
- Encouraging and working with them on learning their section(s) each week. You both will benefit from this learning.
- After they've earned the right to wear their uniform, make sure that your child wears their uniform every club night.
- Be sure to read all correspondence that comes home to you. We will regularly send home fliers and newsletters that explain what is going on in our AWANA club.
Thank you ahead of time for supporting your child. You have an open invitation to come and visit any of our clubs during the year.
