A Word About Our Ministry

Similar to the vision and direction of the church as a whole, the heartbeat of the Student Ministry at Metro East centers around Jesus' words from what are called the Great Commandments (Matthew 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).  Because of these passages, we believe that Student Ministry exists to glorify God by encouraging and equipping students in their pursuit of loving God, loving others, and making disciples.  We evaluate our weekly programs and events on whether or not they help us grasp and live out these teachings of Jesus.

The idea behind the name "Eclipse" revolves around our desire to see students' love for God, for Jesus, and the glorious news of the Gospel Eclipse everything else in their lives.  Not that their friends, relationships, school work, peer pressures, toys, and lives cease to exist, they are just eclipsed by an overwhelming love for and treasuring of God's glory as revealed in Jesus.  It may be a lofty goal, but it remains our goal nonetheless!

In an attempt to paint a picture of what a student should look like who is grasping the great commandments and the great commission, we have named seven values for our student ministry.  These values form the backbone of our teaching and become the themes of our events and programs.  It is an honor for our adult leaders to come alongside students and their parents as we strive to follow hard after Jesus.  If you have any questions or want to talk about our student ministry, please contact the church office.

If you are at all interested in volunteering with this strategic ministry, first check out our Adult Leader Covenant, then feel free to contact James Allen, Associate Pastor to Students, for ways to get involved. We'd love to have you on board!
